About me
Welcome! My name is Maria del Socorro Camacho-Alcantar and I'm a senior at Lindsay Senior High. I am the youngest of 6. I was born in the small town of Lindsay California to Hispanic parents Antonio and Cesilia Camacho. It is hard for me to explain who I am in only a few words. I'm 17 years old and I believe I haven’t grown to my fullest potential. As the days roll by I to, discover new things about myself. I was raised in a low income family up until the age of three when my parents decided to make a change in our daily lives, coming from a low income family has helped me become humble and appreciative of what’s available to me. All my life I work hard to make my parents proud. Since my freshmen year I have been involved in FFA. Every year I held an officer position for our chapter and I've been the president since 2014. Getting involved, that's what it’s all about! One of my favorite things to do outside of school is raise animals for local fairs, such as the Tulare County Fair, and the Porterville Fair. These past 4 years I have shown sheep, swine, and goats and have also been the Lindsay Agriculture Department large animal and school farm manager foe the past 3 years. My senior year I decided to show one last hog for the 2015 Tulare County Fair as well as a market goat and for the Porterville fair I hope to have more sheep and goat SAE’s.(Supervised Agriculture Experience) . I have gained so much knowledge and experience from these projects. I refer to myself as street smart not book smart because agriculture just makes sense to me, I've always struggled with school not because it was hard but because I lack motivation and it is difficult for me to keep up with the class. As a result, my love for agriculture has exploded through the roof; it has been a huge part of my life. After high school I plan to attend CHico, Fresno State, or Montana state University and major in Animal Science and minor in sociology.
